Media Release

Congratulations to Dunolly Bakery

Dunolly Bakery has been voted the Central Goldfields Shire’s top business in the 2007 Powercor Central Goldfields Business Awards.

Having won the Central Highlands Water Customer Service Award, the bakery went on to take the top honour, the Powercor Business of the Year Award.

The bakery is winning much praise for its recently restored café area, outside dining facilities and excellent range of breads, cakes and pastries.

The independent panel of judges praised the high standard of all entries which, it said, had made the job of selecting both finalists and winners particularly difficult.

Judging panel chairwoman Marita Ryan said judging was an extremely challenging process due to the number of outstanding applications.

Ms Ryan said Dunolly Bakery could attribute its category and overall awards to owner Rod Stuart’s intricate knowledge of his business.

“He knows his business inside out. He knows exactly what works and what doesn’t, makes the required changes and has taken his business to the next level,” Ms Ryan said.

Ms Ryan congratulated all entrants saying their willingness to promote and market their businesses ensured they were all winners. She commended the awards process and encouraged all business to reapply in the 2009 event.

The winners were announced at a presentation dinner at the Highlands Society, Maryborough, on Tuesday June 26.

Master of ceremonies at the awards dinner, Mayor Geoff Lovett congratulated all winners saying they set an exemplary standard for the rest of the business community to follow.

“Business, particularly business that demonstrates innovation and aspires to excellence, is a major contributor to our Shire and should be rewarded as such,” Cr Lovett said.
